Join Detroit born baritone saxophonist extraordinaire ALEX HARDING and Transylvanian expat pianist LUCIAN BAN in a celebration of their album DARK BLUE. The duo will perform selections from the album as well as take part in a discussion with the audience about the nature of this unique collaboration between a baritone saxophonist and a pianist. Behind the Music: A conversation with the Artist Benjamin Boone
Join composer, musician and educator Benjamin Boone to get an inside look at the making of his award winning album with Pulitzer Prize winning poet Philip Levine, “The Poetry of Jazz.” Dr. Boone and pianist and collaborator David Aus will share select recordings from the album and offer a behind-the-scenes look at this unique collaboration, the making of the record, and the incredible roster of musicians who played a role in the project. Reyburn Intermediate Jazz Band and Combo
Reyburn Intermediate School Jazz Band and Jazz Combo, under the direction of Adam Elmore, will each perform a 20-minute set and then receive a feedback clinic from Richard Giddens, director of jazz studies at CSU Fresno. Students are invited to arrive at 6:30 pm for FREE PIZZA prior to the performance/clinic. The show begins at 7:00 pm and will conclude by 8:30. Parents and friends are invited to attend as well, but are asked to reserve a ticket as seating is limited. To help cover food costs, a small donation is requested of parents and friends who would like pizza.

Behind the Music is a series of workshops, talks, musical presentations, and artistic and educational offering for both students and adults. The series os offered through a generous grant from the Cultural Arts Rotary Club of Fresno. The presentations typically take place at the Milestones/JazzFresno Studio at 90 E. Escalon, Suite 115 in Fresno.
